Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner is changing his batting on slow pitches of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), playing in 2009 and leading his team from the front.
Warner had a brilliant innings against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday night and scored 66 runs off 34 balls at an average of 194.11. This innings pushed Delhi to the backfoot and gave Hyderabad a strong score.
After the match, Warner said, "I’m looking forward to 2009 and am opening my legs a little more. I have taken responsibility of the top order and hit the bowlers. It is difficult to play different types of cricket under such circumstances."
Prior to the last match, Warner was playing a bit cautiously, as he wanted to play the role of an anchor. This strategy worked only when Johnny Bairstow and Manish Pandey had their bats.
Warner has scored 40 of three crosses and has scored some half-centuries. His strike rate has been 150. Once it had gone below 100 also.
The changes Warner has made have been good, as Warner’s aggressive attitude has scattered the Delhi Capitals’ strong bowling attack.
