Before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman AB de Villiers named his fellow player who reminded him of his early days. Former South Africa captain De Villiers is considered one of the deadliest batsmen in history.
In an interview to RCB, De Villiers said that he had a glimpse of him in Australia’s young batsman Josh Philip.
De Villiers said, “This season we have many of the best players in the world, we have Finch, Moin Ali, Adam Zampa and Josh Phillip. I look forward to joining Josh. The way he plays, I see a lot of similarities between the way I used to play in my youth and the way I play.
De Villiers added, “I am very excited about Josh, I have seen him playing for the Sydney Sixers. He is a very talented player, I have heard many good things about him from Adam Gilchrist. ”
23-year-old wicketkeeper batsman Josh Phillip played a key role in winning the Big Bash League to the Sydney Sixers earlier this year. Phillip played a blistering innings of 52 runs in 29 balls. Throughout the season, he had scored 487 runs at an average of 37 and a strike rate of 130.
