England batsman Tom Benton hit a half-century in the first T20 match against Pakistan. The first T20 was canceled due to rain. Pakistan won the toss in the match played late on Friday and decided to bat first. Benton gets a chance to open the batting in Jason Roy’s matchmaking. Benton took full advantage of this and scored 71 runs off 42 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes.
His opening partner Johnny Bairstow was dismissed by two runs. DJ Malan joined Benton and scored 23 runs. Both shared a 71-run partnership for the second wicket.
Benton’s stormy style continued even after Malan left. He along with the captain added 35 runs. Benton was dismissed by Shadab Khan on a total score of 109. Nine runs later captain Eoin Morgan was also out on a personal score of 14 runs. Moin Ali and Luis Gregori were able to score eight and two runs.
Sam Billings (3 not out) and Chris Jordan (2 not out) were leading the England innings that rain came and then the match could not take place. England scored 131 for six wickets in 16.1 overs when the match was stopped due to rain.
